An innovative model to foreseen olfactive discomfort and its economic consequences in a territory.
Research conducted as part of a doctoral thesis at the Ecoles des mines d’Ales”, in partnership with Olentica, succeeded in a model permitting to provide and represent olfactory discomfort levels and their economic consequences on a territory.
This model is organized on the basis of two concepts: olfactory discomfort and economic prejudice of this discomfort in the territory. An ensemble of heterogeneous criteria organized and aggregated defines these two concepts in order to provide an operational geographical and environmental tool.
The tool has been validated around an industrial site in order to compare the developed approach and the results of measurements on the site (local committees). The results, quite satisfactory, open the door to many opportunities for application.
